Wet & Wild WA Downhill State Championships

The 2017 Western Australia Downhill State Championships were recently hosted by Peel Districts Mountain Bike Club. Local legend, Luke Ball took the top honours for 2017 on a wet & wild track.

This years’ event seen the State Championships move from its traditional venue at the Goatfarm to the steeper & more challenging course at Wellington Mills in the states south-west. The move proved a popular choice with strong numbers & plenty of hot competition in the testing conditions.

In the Elite Mens category, Luke Ball took out 1st place, closely followed by youngsters Roly Kyme in & Samuel Buchanan in a great sign of things to come for the discipline in Western Australia.

In the Elite Womens category, Natalie Pearson capped off a dominant year with 1st, Lani Thygesen 2nd & Vilma FitzGerald 3rd.
