Sharon Heap has claimed a silver medal at the 2017 UCI Masters Cyclo-Cross World Championship in Mol, Belgium over the weekend.
The current Masters 6 Australian champion and national series winner finished only 18 seconds behind Norways Gjertrud BØ to claim second in her first ever CX world championship race.
The Gold Coast mountain biker lead to the half-way mark of the race before she relinquished first spot to the European rider who took the lead and defended her rainbow jersey.
Australian Mens Masters 6 champion Craig Peacock finished 25th with Les Heap in 48th.
The only other Aussie to compete was Paul Spencer, who finished 41st in the 45-49 year category.
