As the year ends, it brings us to reflect on the past 12 months and all that has happened during that time and what we can all look forward to in 2018.
This past year has been a very successful one for MTB with some significant progress and achievements being made. Work has continued in all facets of the business for governance, national events, education, pathways, trails advocacy/planning, membership and participation.
Key highlights for the year include some tremendous results across all disciplines and levels, some key international performances from Sam Hill, Cameron Wright, Mick & Tracey Hannah, Troy Brosnan, Caroline Buchanan and Sharon Heap.
Australia held it’s very first successful UCI C2 CX event in Melbourne. Participation levels and membership continue to grow and we have seen the significant appearance of MTB across commercial marketing.
The number of people just getting involved in MTB is growing exponentially as the sport broadens more as a lifestyle family activity undertaken by thousands annually.
The year was capped off with the Australian Sports Commission recognising MTBA as the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for MTB in Australia. This is a significant boost and well deserved.
MTBA would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed throughout the year in any capacity to the MTB community in Australia.
We wish you all a merry and safe Christmas and New Year with your family and friends. May you have a terrific time on the trails.
Next year is expected to be another big one for us and MTB in Australia.
