MTBA Achievement Awards

In the past three years Mountain Bike Australia’s Annual Achievement Awards have grown from strength to strength recognising all aspects of mountain biking.

For the 2018 awards, MTBA have will invest more into celebrating the achievements of all those who have performed or contributed to the Australian mountain bike community throughout 2017.

MTBA will not be a part of Cycling Australia’s Annual Awards, instead preferring to recognise achievements of our disciplines in front of the whole mountain bike community.

We look forward to confirming a date for the 2018 MTBA Achievement Awards presented by THULE soon.

Dual Membership with MTB Clubs

Members can become a member of more than one club. Currently the MTBA Online Service System (membership registration system) doesn't have the facility to select two clubs and membership cards will only display the first selected club.

To become a member of an additional club, you will need to contact the club directly and pay the club fee directly to them.  Once that is completed, please ask the club to contact MTBA on your behalf to confirm that the 'club fee' payment has been made so we can make a note in your MTBA account that you have dual membership.

Any questions please do not hesitate to contact our Membership Team on 07 5628 0110.

MTBA Rewards

MTBA wishes to inform members that MTBA Rewards will no longer be provided to our members as of 1st October 2017.

All members who have registered for the MTBA Rewards will no longer receive these emails. MTBA will be sending an email to members who are affected by this in the coming days. MTBA are actively seeking other ways in which we can provide value to our members.

Roundabouts – sending Australian cyclists round the bend.

Roundabouts often cause considerable confusion and hazards to Australian cyclists. Unfortunately, the design of roundabouts allows for motor vehicles to travel at higher speeds than bicycles which poses a significant risk to these vulnerable road users. Not surprisingly, the severity of injuries suffered by cyclists increases with the speed limit. Knowing how to successfully travel on roundabouts is key to bike riders feeling safe on our roads and negating the risks that motorists pose in this situation. Check out Maurice Blackburn’s handy guide to safe and lawful ways to navigate roundabouts to prepare yourself the next time you go out on the road.

Have Your Say - Qld Mountain Bike Strategy

MTBA received funding from the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing to develop a Qld Mountain Bike Strategy.

Trail planning consultants, Common Ground Trails have been engaged to undertake a high level review of existing, planned and potential mountain bike trails and infrastructure throughout the State to provide a Strategy that will:

•  provide the framework for a coordinated approach to the development of mountain bike opportunities in the State;

•  develop a prioritisation framework to guide trail investment decisions;

•  ensure regional communities can leverage of the opportunities mountain biking presents.

 Part of this process involves consultation with a variety of stakeholders, including those that ride a mountain bike in Queensland.

If you would like to have your say on mountain biking in Queensland and help inform this Strategy, please complete the following survey.
