and enjoy the benefits
The Office for Recreation and Sport is partnering with IMBA Australia to establish an on-going program for volunteers to help with trail maintenance in the park. We all know that the trails are suffering from a bit of wear and tear so if you're able to spare a bit of your time then ORS, IMBA and Eagle would really appreciate your help.
To start the program off we'll be running a Sustainable Trails Workshop next month to get a core group of volunteers up to speed on cutting-edge & environmentally-sound trail-tuning methodologies. Once volunteers are trained up there will be regular trail maintenance days until the end of the year to help prepare for the Nationals next Summer. Then in 2011 monthly work bees and also hopefully more workshops as new volunteers get onboard.
The workshop will consist of a 3-hour theory session AND a 6-hour practical session. You will need to attend both to complete the training, which is required as a minimum to become a regular trail care volunteer. Here are the dates and times:
For the theory session, two alternatives:
- Mon 1st Nov, 6pm-9pm; or
- Weds 10th Nov, 6pm-9pm
Venue still to be confirmed but more than likely in the city.
For the practical session to be held on-site at Eagle:
- Sat 13th Nov, 9am-3pm
- Sun 14th Nov, 9am-3pm
One or the other, or both if you're super-keen.
Places on the workshop will be limited so please let me know as soon as possible if you're interested and which dates suit you best. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or phone 08 7424 7788.
