Scott 24 Hour - Event News

Get your team together, and enter online at https://www.registernow.com.au/mtba/ERegister.aspx?E=1104. If you are lacking some mates this year why not give solo racing a go and get ready for the 2013 WEMBO Solo 24 Hour World Champs, which will be at Stromlo Forest Park in October next year. In a prelude to next year’s Solo World Champs, the UK National Champion Matt Page is headed down under in October for the Scott to challenge multiple World and National Champion Jason English in a race Jason hasn’t lost since 2008.

But if you’re young, then why not form a schools team?   There is a special category for schools, up to 8 riders, with a reduced entry price and you don’t even have to be from the same school – as long as you’re all secondary school students.   You can enter male, female or mixed teams.

Canberra Off Road Cyclists have been working with Stromlo Forest Park to ensure that the trails are in top notch condition and reports form the hill are that Stromlo has never ridden better. With some new and many improved lines the red and blue laps will offer challenges and thrills to riders of all abilities. Our online media partners Flow Mountain Bike are putting together a preview of the course, which will be available for all of you who are interstate soon, for those around Canberra head on out to Stromlo and have some fun.

We have some great sponsors on board this year, many of our old favorites including Scott, Toyota and Gu. Never fear if you leave your race nutrition supplements at home, there will be Gu in your race packs and the Gu Crew will be in the transition area with more Gu than you could ever want to buy. Eastlake Football Club, a longtime supporter of CORC, will be supporting the Schools Competition at the Scott this year, with $500 cash being awarded to each winning school .

A word from the CORC President – Sarah O’Callaghan: Canberra Off Road Cyclists is a not-for-profit club and we have been running the Scott 24 Hour in various guises since 1999 making it Australia’s longest running 24. The Scott as it is affectionately known is the major fundraiser for CORC and organized these days entirely by volunteers. The Scott allows the club to run and support some 60 racing and social riding events in the Canberra region each year, run our junior and women’s rider development programs, support riders racing at national and international levels, advocate trail access and provide funding for building new trails and maintaining old ones, this year we have completed the construction of the Gungahlin Dirt Jumps, and contributed to the Playground at Stromlo Forest Park. If you only race a few events each year, support the club that supports you and make sure you race the Scott!
