Certainly nothing 'nanny' about Goat Farm courses for AMC opener

Goat Farm - Perth

The 2011/12 MTBA National Series will rolls out at the Goat Farm Mountain Bike Park in Perth when it hosts the first round of the All Mountain Cup (AMC) from November 18-20.

In addition to the centrepiece Olympic Cross Country event, other formats such as the cross country eliminator (four-cross for cross country) and a Super D (downhill cross country) event will be scheduled over the weekend of competition. Complete schedule.

The XCO course features steep climbing and fast flowing descending and with 210m of climbing in the course's 5.5Km length and the temperature hotting up, hydration and pacing will be thekey to a good result. The inclusion of the IMBA designed A Klein descent and the following Neve's Drop will test riders nerve and provide great viewing for spectators.

The XCO also carries UCI C2 International ranking points.

The XCE kicks off with a short sprint into the newly constructed jump line of the Goat Farm skills park. Riders will then turn into a short blue section of singletrack with a black passing option at the end. A quick sprint up a fire-road leads into another short section of single track before the final fire-road climb back to the finish.

The Super D begins at the top of Dugite Bite and has a bit of everything for everyone with a fast bermed trail that snakes it's way down the hill. Turning off Dugite, riders get their first small climb of the course which links them into TT's Traverse; a winding predominantly downhill trail through a grassy field. At the end of this is the part the downhillers dread; a fireroad climb with about 15m of elevation gain, fast at the bottom, steepening at the top. A quick bomb down A Klein, if you have the legs or the travel, a short traverse and a chute into the finish.

The Goat Farm venue is 22km from the center of Perth, with the Perth MTB to offer a BBQ on Saturday night and can offer billeting for those who require accommodation. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more info.
