MTBA U19 XCO PROGRAM

Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) is pleased to announce that it will be establishing a program for Under 19 XCO with the goals to prepare athletes for World Championships, assess and develop physiological and skill capacity, as well as monitor progress in fitness and technical skills.

Athletes will also be provided tools to predict performance at international level and provided information on recovery, nutrition and psychological & training interventions to improve performance.

Below is the outline for the program:

CAMP 1
CAIRNS – APRIL 2016 – WORLD CUP TRACK (4 days, 3 nights)

Draft schedule

  • Testing in Cairns with Bond Uni
  • Course familiarisation
  • Time trial/race in conjunction with club comparison to elite performance at World Cup Nutrition for training.
  • Recovery interventions for training anti-doping policies
  • Goal Setting

CAMP 2
GOLD COAST / MT JOYCE – MAY 2016 (4 days, 3 nights)

*Note program costs excludes domestic airfares

PARTICIPATION

Participation in the MTBA Under 19 XCO Program is mandatory for all riders applying to attend World Championships in 2016.
Any application for exemption must be made in writing to the MTBA Development Coach at the time of application for World Championships.

Exemptions will be considered only if the athlete can show an alternate development plan that meets MTBA criteria as sufficient preparation for World Championships.

Exempted athletes will be required to accompany the team from Australia to the 2016 World Championships and will incur a levy of $5600.

PAYMENTS

The payment schedule is:

April 15th – $3200 May 15th – $2350 June 15th – $2350

Final payment must be made prior to departure for World Championships.
