Income Protection*: $500 per week for employed or 75% of income per week whichever is the lesser. $200pw for unemployed and students, limited to 10 weeks at any one claim. Non-Medicare*: $3000 at 80% of expenses
*Cover is 24hrs 7 days a week when involved in sanctioned club activities. Cover is reduced by 50% in individual riding activities not covered by 3rd party insurance. Cover does not extend when participating in non-MTBA sanctioned events or activities covered by a 3rd party insurance scheme of any description.
MTBA insurance includes:- D&O insurance for your club, so long as it is incorporated.
- MTBA members now have income protection in the event of an injury that requires them to be off work for more than 2 weeks.
- MTBA members now have access to $3000 non-medicare expenses protection.
Some additional explanation will help understand the added provisions For Clubs: D&O insurance. This will provide additional protection for the club executive for a multitude of actions undertaken by the club directors on behalf of the club. Things like protection against contract reneging etc. MTBA can clarify these matters when the actual policy wording becomes available. In the meantime MTBA very strongly recommends that all clubs be incorporated. If your club is incorporated could you please send me a copy of the incorporation certificate to MTBA for our records. For those clubs that are not currently incorporated, MTBA will very likely mandate incorporation in the near future and strongly suggests that you begin this process now. To assist you in this process attached is a document that outlines the contacts you need in your state to effect incorporation and some of the implications of incorporation on your club's operations. Please contact MTBA if you require further help. For Members: Income ProtectionThe insurance provisions include income protection for employed members to the value of $500pw for 52 weeks. Full time students and unemployed members are limited to 10 weeks cover. The excess (waiting) period is 2 weeks. Non-Medicare provisionsThe insurance cover for MTBA members will also include $3000 non-medicare cover. This cover is for procedures that are not covered by medicare such as X-Ray, physio etc. Expenses are paid at the rate of 80% of the expense, with a $0 excess. Please note: It is important to stress to your members and other participants at your events, that the income protection and non-medicare cover is ONLY available to full MTBA members at sanctioned club activities.
